Kelowna April 2012 1750 Late War coverage.
Greetings all.
Wanted to add some coverage for my tourney a couple of weeks ago.
We had 18 players in total (I dropped out to even the numbers) including six from Kamloops, seven from Calgary and 2 form Vancouver.
Things went fairly smoothly considering V3 had only been introduced the previous month. I keep forgeting how much work it is to run and event. Luckily my lovely wife pitched in to help with scoring and such.
Anyway.
Tourney poster.
Prize support I managed to scrape together.
Trophies (these were actually allot of fun to put together).
Group shot.
Winners circle.
From left to right.
Kent (Best Painted)
Brad (Best Overall)
Geoff (Best General)
Patrick (Best Sportsman)

We haven't quite got that kind of prize support yet - or trophies. Something to work on for next year. We are right around a 100.00 in prizes. Mainly because we do not charge entry either.

Was an awesome event. One of the better I have been to in any game system. Thanks for putting on such a great tourney Glen. Hopefully we can make it a annual thing.
Now if we could only get the results up.

Regarding prize support.
Battlefront will only pitch in a rather sad $100.00
So I went to all of the local (and not so local) stores trying to scrape some more together. I have found that if you are a regular customer with advertising, trophies, and a venue, most stores will chuck some figs in because tourneys generate sales in books, paints, brushes, and of course minis.
Most people will pay $25 without too much noise. After Venue, trophies, and extra terrain, the rest goes into prize support. My goal is to have everyone walk away with something.
Worked ok so far. Although in truth, the tourneys probably cost me money personally. But what the hell......I throw back yard BBQ's that cost me allot more than these single day tourneys.

A thing I know all too well but very few people that attend actually get - in fact a lot with knit pic over things. Its a little discouraging. Not the majority but there are people out there.

You are appreciated Shawn!
And, Leifer thanks to your posting of the trophies here. I did the same for the last tournament in Regina and they were very well received!
